Gamer SystemWhat makes a computer system a fast enough machine to play games? CPU power is not enough since most games will utilize a GPU - a graphics processor unit - to render the game scenes. OK, then a CPU and a GPU? ...not yet. Most games needs fast clocking memories and fast hard disk. The answer is, a combination of hardware parts - Teh CPU will do the main processing, a GOOD graphics card, will handle graphics, Dual Channel low latency memories will keep all in sync, and a fast hard disk will allow for a smooth playing. So I am puting together a combination ok geeky hardware to have a fast computer that will play any game - and since games are the cuttig edge of computing, IT WILL RUN ANYTHING ELSE FAST! THE CPU -INTEL 2.66GHz Dual Core
Why only 2.66GHz and not 3.2GHz? because you only notice a increase of speed higher than 15% - so a 2.66GHZ is about the same - for humans - as a 3GHz - and a 3 is about the same as a 3.2. However the price is about 3 times LESS than a 3.2GHz.Why dual and not quad? There almost nothing that will utilize quad core threads as far as software goes - some video and cad software maybe - but any high clocked dual beats a quad EASILY - because the code SUCKS - nobody writes flor quad and if they do the it is LAZY code. DDR2 MEMORYOn the memory lane we will add 4 GB of NIVIDIA DDR2 dual channel memories to keep the processor busy Now we add the GPU - by Nvidia - the 8800GTS 512MB SLI ready graphics card - you can add a second card and symmetrically connect the two via the motherboard - but that would be way too much power for most games! So 1 is more than enough.
